Can Quick Oil Change Shops Be Trusted?

Many car owners either don’t have the time or the know how to change their own oil so they wind up going to those fast oil change service station. Nevertheless are all these motor oil change places on the up and up? In this article, I am going to concentrate on why it isn’t a great idea to go to these places and why you should find a regular mechanic instead.

You are probably aware that your car owners manual will give you a break down on what things need to be done after so many miles of driving. You’ve got appointed upkeep for things like air filter change or an oil change. But did you seriously go through the automobile’s owner’s manual? I can pretty much guarantee whenever you examine the owners manual of your car you will see that your oil doesn’t need to be changed every 3,000 miles like all those oil change places tell you. Actually when you look in your book you may find that you only need to change your oil every 6,000 or even 7,000 miles. So, if you think about this, these fast oil change places are lying to you so they can take your money.

Furthermore if you read through your owners manual you can see a schedule for changing your air filter. In my circumstance, it is suggested that I change my car’s air filter every two years or when it is all clogged up. The truth is, I hadn’t changed the filtering system in four years since it still looked pretty good, however I changed it anyway. But, whenever I would pay a visit to these quick oil change places, they would tell me I would need a new air filter. At one point I ran out and exchanged my air filter and 6 months afterwards I went to an oil change place and they told me I needed a new air filter.  There seemed to be a very light discoloration and I was told that it was at the first stages of clogging. When I told them that I had just changed it several months prior, they then told me it must be replaced in another six months or so.

Specifically what irritated me was that they initially told me that the filter would have to be changed. After that their story changed when I mentioned that it wasn’t that old. It simply shows how very, very terrible and dishonest these people who represent these oil change places are.

A different time, one of these stores replaced my transmission fluid. I know that they tell you it needs to be changed whenever you go in there. This one time I allowed the crooks to do it. Three months later on, when I went back to have an oil change, they tried to tell me the transmission fluid was dirty and needed to be changed again. Not surprisingly, that was the last time I went to these unethical places.

Ever since then, I have found a reputable mechanic who is reliable that can work on my car. Something you should consider is that the staff of the oil change places aren’t required to go to school to tell you what you need to have done to your car. Still a mechanic who is certified is  more than capable  to  help maintain your car.
